2009-10 Marching Band Start Up Meeting

Hello Members of the SG Marching Band & Parents,

I hope you all had an exciting and restful summer!  Just wanted to remind everyone that our startup meeting is this Monday, August 3rd, at 7pm in the band room.  It is required that at least one parent attend.  See dates below for full band camp days and times.  Remember the first game is before school starts.

The marching band picture is Tuesday August 11th in the morning.  Seniors I believe will have their picture taken first.  Everyone (band and guard) will need to bring their black marching shoes.  If you don’t have marching shoes or plain back shoes, you can use some of the marching shoes we have at the school.  You may purchase pictures but you will have to pay the photography company that day.  I should have info packets at the meeting.

Color Guard: The first week we will be sizing you for your uniform and the orders will be sent off Friday.  The total cost for the uniforms will be $50 and money will be due Friday, August 7th.  If you are unable to pay at that time please let me know so I can make arrangements.  If you have any conflicts let me know immediately so I will be informed.  This year your new Coach will be Nicole Murray who marched with SEGHS marching band and with Wake Forest marching band.  I am excited to have her and I think this will be a great year for guard. During camp we will talk about warm up suits.

Band: I have the first song, Los Cuervos, to give you on Monday night.  If you have not been practicing, please start!  The show recordings are now on the website under recordings. If you have any conflicts let me know immediately so I will be informed.

Parents: Please come with your calendars.  I will have signup sheets for helpers for the games, competitions, and parades.  Your help is important to us!  We would like for you to commit to at least 3 events.  I do not want the same thing to happen this year where some parents were not able to see their child perform because they were always holding backdrops.  We also meet the first Monday (or another day if there are conflicts) of the Month to talk about fundraising, fieldtrips, and making the band and guard better.  We need you!!! Every little bit helps!!!

Mandatory Start Up Meeting:  Mon., Aug. 3rd @ 7pm- Band Room

Guard & Perc. Camp:  Tue., Aug. 4th-7th and Mon., Aug. 10th~ 8am -4pm

Full Band, Perc. & Guard:  Tues., Aug. 11th-14th and Mon., Aug. 17th-19th~ 8am to 4:30pm

Summer Practice: Thursday, Aug. 20th ~ 5:30pm-9pm

First Home Game: Friday, Aug. 21st ~ Be at school at 6:15pm (Game starts at 7:20pm)

First Day of School: Tuesday, Aug. 25

Weekly Practices: Begin Aug. 25, Every Tuesday and Thursday~ 4:30pm-7pm
