Itinerary for NW Guilford Competition
Saturday, October 23rd

Time Event
11:00am Arrive at SG
11:15am Practice
12:30am Pack and eat a quick bagged lunch
1:05pm Leave for NW Guilford
2:00-2:45pm Arrive at NW Guilford-Dress Time
3:00-3:30pm Warm Up / Pit Staging
3:40pm Gate time
3:45pm Perform
4:05pm Pictures / Undress / Load Trailer
5:00-5:45pm Dinner at the competition: Bring money (at least $10)
9:00pm Awards
9:45pm Leave for SGHS
10:45pm Arrive at SGHS

 Expectations:

  1. Arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to be prepared at the beginning of warm-ups.
  2. Eat breakfast at home.  Do not use our rehearsal time to eat. 
  3. Bring several water bottles, bagged lunch, and a healthy snack for the bus ride to the event.  The snack should re-energize you and fill you up.  Do not bring salty and sugary snacks that will ultimately deflate you ability to perform.
    • BRING MONEY for dinner and snacks at the competition; at least $10!!!
  4. Perform all pre-competition functions in an organized and precise manner. 

 Once at the competition, we will use the following rules in order to BEST represent Southern Guilford High School and ourselves.

  1. Exit the bus in an orderly fashion without speaking and immediately line up wherever told to. (Band Captains use this time to help unpack.)
  2. Get your instrument when instructed to do so. 
  3. Wait for directions related to changing rooms and restrooms. Always stay IN LINE when not performing a specific task as ordered by the director, staff; student leaders or chaperones. 
  4. Allow chaperones to provide gauntlets and plumes. 
  5. Do not play until instructed to do so. 
  6. 6.    Move without talking or playing. 
  7. ALWAYS be in the performance mindset until your performance is finished.
  8. 8.   While other bands are performing:
  • Don’t leave or enter stadium. 
  • If talking during performance, KEEP IT AT RESONABLE LEVEL and don’t laugh!!!
  • No talking on cell phones.
  • If someone asks you to do something in the stadium, DO IT or come and get Mrs. Batts to resolve the situation. 
  • No excessive or silly grams/messages.

Once the performance is over:

1.  Do not stop marching until commanded to halt.

2.  Do not change or pack instrument until instructed to do so.

3.  Change and pack as quickly and safely as possible. 

4.  March back to the stadium. 

5.  Respect every performing band, as you would want them to respect you

6.  Do not separate yourself from the band.

Remember:

  1. Remove all jewelry
  2. Section leaders KEEP YOUR UNIFORMS. You will need them for the awards ceremony.
  3. You will change out of the uniform after we perform, so
    BRING CLOTHES TO WEAR~ Elements Shirt and Jeans.
  4. If you are going to leave early, you MUST have a parent note or your parent must come and talk to me in person.
