Mrs. Amanda Batts

Mrs. Batts is a graduate of Southern Guilford High School. While a student at Southern, she was a participant in the Marching and Concert Band. She represented the SGHS Band as the Drum Major and Principal Flute Player. After graduating from Southern, she attended Greensboro College. During her time at Greensboro College she was involved in the school’s Marching Band, Concert Band, Chorale, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Woodwind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Flute Ensemble. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. She recently earned a Master of Music Degree in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Mrs. Batts is a member of Music Educators National Conference (MENC) and National Educators Association (NEA). She is a member of Alpha Chi, the national college honor society, and Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education. She was the recipient of the Alpha Chi Award for academic excellence, Luella Pugh Knott Music Award, Judith C. Williams Scholar Artist’s Award, and a participant in many Musician’s Honor Convocations.

As the Director of Bands at Southern Guilford High, Mrs. Batts plans to continue the growth of the program and make it bigger and better!
